Client: Transpower
Challenge
Transpower regards the health and safety of contractors on site of prime importance. On site the control of keys to critical areas was difficult to manage with the risk of a critical area being left unattended.
Our solution
ECL Group Corporate Security designed and manufactured a secure key safe to ensure the management of onsite keys, utilising the Cardax access control system already installed on Transpower New Zealand sites.
Outcome for our client
Transpower has total control over any keys released to contractors. They now know the location of any key at any time, including if a key is not returned.
As a result, Transpower has increased the levels of health and safety compliance and has created a more secure and safe environment for all contractors and employees working on their sites.
Client: University of Canterbury
Challenge
The University of Canterbury had a number of different access control and alarm systems in various buildings across the campus. This has provided headaches for security staff, academics and students.
Our solution
ECL Group Corporate Security proposed the installation of a system that could be incrementally increased in size as security demands required (a campus-wide solution). A Cardax access control system was installed and trialled in one building, controlling eight doors. The system has now been expanded to cover 680 doors across 80 buildings.
Outcome for our client
The University of Canterbury has a fully integrated access control system, including alarm monitoring and CCTV integration. With links to the student database the system provides students with access only to the areas relevant to their courses.
The Cardax system also integrates with student IDs, and the use of campus equipment such as photocopiers and computer suites. This system is centrally controlled for easy management and detailed reporting.
Client: Department of Corrections
Challenge
The Department of Corrections had inmates breaching traditional security fences at a major New Zealand prison.
Identifying where breaches had occurred along the 3.2km fence line was very labour-intensive.
Our solution
ECL Group Corporate Security installed a 2.5 kilometre, 3.1 metre high electric perimeter fence around the site. This includes features which allow guards to identify where zone breaches may have occurred, speeding up the time taken to respond to fence activations.
Outcome for our client
The prison security has improved significantly on this site, with no breaches of the external electric perimeter fence to date.
Any attempted breaches are signalled to the guard station immediately. The information allows guards to identify the point of breach and to monitor it via CCTV cameras until guards arrive at the location.
