About Us

The ECL Group is a specialist integrated services company that provides a range of services to client throughout New Zealand and Australia. We provide either a single service or an integrated offering depending on client requirements.

The company is a privately owned entity, with its Head Office based in Christchurch New Zealand. Established almost 60 years ago, company turnover exceeds $120m per annum.

Our workforce is in excess of 450 employees operating from 28 locations throughout New Zealand and Australia.

Our unique approach enables us to deliver continuous improvements in asset performance and sustain long term relationships with our clients and partners.

History

The ECL Group was established in 1954 as an electrical contracting company based in Christchurch New Zealand.

In 1997, through a management buyout, the company expanded and diversified, firstly across New Zealand and then through Australia. Though the expansion of services offered, and the acquisition of new business streams, the ECL Group has developed a comprehensive offering of integrated services for businesses throughout Australasia.

Board of Directors
The ECL Group has a Board of five directors including:


Sue Suckling – Chair
Sue Suckling is a director and consultant with over 25 years experience in corporate governance and was appointed as an ECL Group director in 2009. Sue is currently the chair of the New Zealand Qualifications Authority and Barker Fruit Processors. She is a director of Sky City, Restaurant Brands and a member of the NZ Takeovers Panel. Previous governance roles included chairing NIWA, AgriQuality Limited, and as a director of Westpac Investments Limited and the NZ Dairy Board.

In 1996 she was awarded an OBE for her contribution to New Zealand business, she is a Fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Directors and a Companion of the Royal Society of New Zealand.


John Fletcher
John Fletcher has extensive experience in the energy industry. He held senior positions in Royal Dutch Shell, is a former Managing Director of Shell New Zealand Ltd, and was also a director of New Zealand Refining Company and Fulton Hogan. He is currently a director of Techtonics Group.


Simon Abbot
Simon Abbot is a Chartered Accountant with 20 years financial services experience. He has been an advisor to the ECL Group since 1997, and heads the audit and risk committee. Simon is also a director of a number of private companies including Walker Davy Ltd.


Brent Mirfin
Brent Mirfin is General Manager of the ECL Group along with a shareholder. He has undertaken a number of roles within the ECL Group over the past 20 years, becoming a Director in 1997. Brent leads the Electronic Security business unit within the ECL Group whilst undertaking director activities.


Grant Mirfin
Grant Mirfin undertakes the role of Managing Director of the ECL Group and has been at the helm throughout its growth phase since 1997. Grant is a also a shareholder and a director of the ECL Groups Australian operations.
